General Information

This bivalve lives in intertidal zones with sandy bottoms. It is harvested by hand using a spade or mechanically using a water jet dredge.

Characteristics

The softshell clam is harvested after it has reached 5 cm in size, but it can reach up to 10 cm and has an average weight of 20 grams. The meat is beige and has a firm, fleshy texture and a distinct, delicious flavor.
