Poissonnerie Manicouagan was founded in 1983 by Gilles Gagnon and
Jacquelin Savard who started an over-the-counter wholesale business in
Baie Comeau. In 1986, with an ever increasing clientele and daily
demands, Pecherie Manicouagan succeeded in reaching the restaurant
market. In 1990, a marine products re-packing and distribution plant
was constructed to redistribute products from other regional fishing
industries to restaurant businesses as well as other North Shore’s
companies. One year later, a second marine wholesale center was opened
in Baie Comeau. Always aiming towards developing and expanding its
network and offering its own products, Pêcherie Manicouagan acquired
assets from the Nor-Pêche des Escoumins company. The expansion
continued in 1992 with the purchase of the Poissonnerie B. Tremblay de
Ste-Anne de Portneuf, located on the upper North Shore.
Since 1994, the enterprise, now known as Pêcherie Manicouagan Inc.,
whose head office is located in Baie Comeau (Quebec), is active in both
wholesales and retail. It has a very broad distribution link which
enables it to ship high quality products throughout Canada, the United
States, Asia and Europe.
Pêcherie Manicouagan offers competitive prices, a daily and rapid
supply of quality products coming from certified plants. Furthermore,
it uses an international bar code system.
